Pumba the warthog walks around toothless

Another favorite thing Pumba likes is his stomach to be scratched

Pumba the warthog was hand-raised as a piglet and had to have a tooth removed as it got infected.

Christine du Preez brought Pumba up at uBhetyan O Africa and from the beginning he was Christine’s little child.

The owner of uBhetyan O Africa, Deon Cornelius received Pumba as an orphan and they knew that they had to do everything in their power to pull the piglet through.

Pumba then started getting stronger and stronger by the day; he spent time walking around the farm with the other dogs.

He used to venture down to the leopard enclosures and the farm became his paradise.

When the children went for a swim and slid down the slide he is right behind them and enjoyed the slide just as much.

Another favorite thing Pumba likes is his stomach to be scratched; he will lie down anywhere, anytime for a tummy rub.

A few days ago, Pumba did not seem himself to Christine; that is when Deon checked his mouth and noticed that he had broken his tooth and it had a bad infection in it.

On Friday, January 18 Deon brought Pumba to Dr Nolan Landman and Dr Jacqui Hooton at Witbank Veterinary Hospital so that the tooth could be removed.

“It was really tough to get the tooth out and it took about an hour. His tooth had a bad infection in it,” said Landman.

Once the tooth was out, Pumba was back on his way to uBhetyan.

On Saturday, January 19 Pumba was still in so much pain that he just lay down all day.

By Sunday, January 20 when the journalist from the WITBANK NEWS paid him a visit on the farm, he was walking around, but still had no appetite to eat his Weetbix.

Within a few days Pumba will be back to his normal self and enjoying his life on the farm.
