Leopard’s wound almost healed

The bandages were removed, Landman and his team could not believe how well the wound was healing

The leopard that was caught in a snare and rescued is almost totally healed and he will soon be released into a rehab enclosure.

On Monday, January 21 Dr Nolan Landman and his team from Witbank Veterinary Hospital sedated the leopard again to check his wound once again.

The bandages were removed, Landman and his team could not believe how well the wound was healing and that it was hopefully the last time that the wound would be treated and stitched up.

In approximately 10 days time the leopard will be sedated again so the final check can be done on the wound.

Once the wound is checked and the doctors give the all clear, the leopard will be sent to a rehab enclosure.

This leopard was caught in a snare on a farm between Middelburg and Loskop area.

Deon Cornelius managed to get the leopard out of the snare and brought the leopard to Landman for further treatment on December 23.

So far all being done with funds from the vet and rehabilitation centre; money is running out and the leopard still needs to be treated.

Everyone is hoping that this male will heal completely.

Of course the team wants to keep on fighting for this male, like the 53 before him, and the ones that need to be rescued in the coming years.
