There will be a demonstration of traditional black-powder firearms too.
The Witbank Practical Shooting Club (WPSC) will be hosting an open day.
Saturday, September 24 is set aside for members and interested licenced gun owners who are not members of the club.
Non-shooting family members and friends are welcome to attend.
This event will provide an opportunity to participate in a variety of shooting disciplines on a non-competitive basis or simply enjoy watching the proceedings.
Those attending who wish to fire a few rounds with their licenced firearms under the supervision of a range officer will be permitted to do so.
Targets will be provided, but participants must bring their own ammunition and safety equipment.
There will be a demonstration of traditional black-powder firearms and those wishing to shoot one of these will be given the opportunity.
Additionally, there will be a demonstration of black-powder cannon shooting.
The shooting range is situated in Price Street, on the corner just beyond the former Dunn’s Loco & Boiler Works at the gate marked WPSC. This is opposite the golf course.
The range will be open from 09:00 and all members and visitors will be required to sign the range register and indemnity upon entering the premises. For safety reasons, all firearms brought onto the range must be unloaded at the hot box situated at the entrance.
An entrance fee of R20 per person will be charged.
Cold drinks and wors rolls will be available for purchase during the day.
