Emalahleni Masters League gains momentum

The two teams faced each other during an Emalahleni Masters League fixture.

The Emalahleni Masters League plays their matches every Sunday for the whole season. Usually, there are six matches played each week; this is a social league to keep soccer masters fit and united.

The season is named the Innocent Mdledle season and Mdledle is one of the local legends who started his soccer career on local grounds.

He played for Witbank Spurs and moved to Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns

And  Supersport United,  representing the country at Bafana-Bafana  (national soccer team). This season is played in his honour.

In one of the matches, on Sunday, October 2 Real Kasi played against United Masters, and from the onset Real Kasi showed that they mean business when they scored their first goal in the first few minutes of the match.

The scorer even dribbled the goalkeeper who was out of his line to make it 1-0.

Real Kasi was in the picture again when they missed increasing the score in the penalty box. United had a place-kick, but the high ball was headed out.

Poor defending by United led to Real Kasi putting pressure on them. United tried for an equaliser, but the shot by one of their forwards was blocked.

Real Kasi had a shot that went over the crossbar. United’s last shot before the half-time break went out and Real Kasi lead 1-0 at half-time.

After the break Real Kasi continued with their attack and was rewarded when a United goalkeeper committed a mistake, instead of kicking the ball, he decided to dribble, leading to a Real Kasi player scoring an easy goal to make it 2-0. Real Kasi had a place-kick which went out.

Both teams made some substitutes and one of the Real Kasi players was yellow-carded for delaying the match.

Real Kasi came strong towards the end of the match and in one of their attacks they had a shot that was saved by the United goalkeeper. In the end, Real Kasi got three points for their effort.

“The art of active aging, let’s take a boy child to the field we are one goal” is the association’s slogan.
