Nelson Ngubeni learner shines at fifth annual Spelling Bee competition

The power of young minds was witnessed at the 5th Annual Spelling Bee as they spell their way to success.

The fifth annual Spelling Bee competition, hosted at Duvha Primary School transcended the boundaries of letters and words to highlight the extraordinary talents of 160 young participants who showcased their exceptional skills and unwavering determination.

With an initial turnout of 200 participants from five schools, the event on Saturday, September 23, created an atmosphere that seamlessly blended friendly camaraderie with fierce competition.

This educational endeavor aimed to underscore the significance of reading, enriching vocabulary, refining grammar and pronunciation, and, above all, offering a platform for young learners to exhibit their relentless dedication and hard work.

The participating schools, Duvha Primary School, Maloma Primary School, Nelson Ngubeni Primary School, and Spring Valley Primary School, sent forth their brightest spellers.

After rounds of nail-biting spelling challenges, Magdeline Siwela, a steadfast grade seven learner from Nelson Ngubeni, emerged as the triumphant wordsmith.

Magdeline’s remarkable achievement was celebrated with a well-deserved array of prizes, including a trophy, certificate, educational board game, badge, and a highly coveted laptop.

“We, as the Pink Touch Foundation, are extremely proud of her performance in the competition,” stated Ayanda Masuku, the founder of the organisation.

Ayanda added, “We trust and hope she does well for the rest of the academic year.”

“We would like to thank all the stakeholders who supported our competition, and we look forward to the future and growth of the Spelling Bee competition, to take it to even greater heights,” concluded Ayanda.
