Sizwe Mahlangu, allegedly responsible for fatally stabbing taxi driver Thabo Sydney Mampuru in 2022 at Hoopoo Street in Reyno Ridge, has been remanded in custody.
Mahlangu appeared again before the Witbank Magistrate’s Court on May 23 after the case was postponed for bail hearing on Tuesday, May 14.
This comes after evading law enforcement for two years, on Sunday, May 5, the Vosman Police received information on the whereabouts of the suspect, and the members drove to Siyabuswa, where the suspect was hiding.
On their arrival, the suspect had no chance to play hide-and-seek tactics and was sniffed out from his hiding zone.
According to reports, Mahlangu, a fellow taxi driver, is accused of engaging in a heated argument with the late Mampuru over the transportation of schoolchildren.
The altercation escalated, leading to Mahlangu allegedly producing a knife and fatally stabbing the victim.
