Glencore Coal celebrates portable skills graduates
The young graduates completed training in agriculture, make-up applications, nail technology, baking, carpentry, sewing, welding, and plumbing.
Glencore Coal recently celebrated a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to empower and upskill young people in the communities it operates in.
The company honored 124 graduates who completed the Portable Skills Training Programme.The programme is part of Glencore’s commitment to providing life-changing skills to young people, equipping them with valuable, practical skills to contribute meaningfully to their futures and the economy.
Since its inception, the programme has provided skills to over 480 participants, helping them enter the job market or start their businesses. The latest graduates completed training in various fields, including agriculture, make-up applications, nail technology, baking, carpentry, sewing, welding, and plumbing.
The training programme was delivered in collaboration with a training facility dedicated to providing practical, industry-relevant skills to young people in Mpumalanga.
“We are proud of these young people for their extraordinary dedication to bettering their futures,” said Sibusiso Mbebe, Glencore’s Community Development Superintendent, “By imparting useful skills, we are not only realising the potential of the graduates but also generating chances for them to succeed.”
Sibusiso added, “It is a privilege to acknowledge these young people for their hard work and determination. We remain committed to advancing lives by creating sustainable opportunities that uplift communities, encourage entrepreneurship, and help reduce unemployment.”
