Man beaten and robbed inside his Klarinet home

A late-night arrival turned into a nightmare for a Klarinet resident who was followed into his home, assaulted, and robbed at gunpoint.

A Klarinet resident was left traumatised following a house robbery incident that left him without a cellphone and a wallet.

According to the police, a man said that on May 31, around 23:00, he had just arrived at his home in Klarinet Extension 8 when the nightmare unfolded.

He said as he entered the house, he turned his head to a man who followed him inside.

It is said that the man then started assaulting the victim and tied him up. As if that was not enough, the victim said he was held at gunpoint, and robbed of his wallet with cash and his cellphone.

The robber then fled the scene soon after.

Witbank SAPS has launched an investigation into the house robbery.

SAPS tips to prevent house robbery:

  • Stay vigilant when arriving home. Check your mirrors. If you notice a vehicle or a person following you, do not pull into your driveway. Drive to the nearest police station or a busy public area.
  • Light up the entrance. Never pull into a dark driveway. Ensure your gate area is well-lit so nobody can hide in the shadows waiting for you to open up.
  • Close the door behind you immediately. The moment you walk through your front door or pull into your garage, lock it behind you.
