Lerato eyes the Miss Township SA crown

As she strives to bag the title, Lerato advocates for mental health, emphasising that it is at the centre of life.

From the City of Coal comes a voice up and ready to change how people see beauty and advocacy. Lerato Masemula (25), a semi-finalist in Miss Township South Africa 2026, is using her platform to speak about an issue she believes is overlooked – mental health.

According to Lerato, mental health is not a side conversation but a central part of life. She believes that caring for one’s emotional well-being is just as important as achieving success in school, work, or personal goals.

“Talk about your struggles, seek help when needed, and never treat mental health as something to hide,” Lerato said.

Her journey in pageantry began when she won the title of Miss Purpose South Africa, an experience she says changed her outlook. It gave her confidence, personal growth, and a sense of sisterhood.

“That journey helped me build meaningful connections with incredible women and also helped me discover more about myself,” she recalls.

While advocacy drives her mission, modelling remains her passion. Lerato sees the runway as a place where she feels free and authentic.

“Modelling is where I feel most free. On stage, I do not have to pretend. I am fully myself,” she said.

This authenticity is what makes her stand out. Whether she is walking down a runway, engaging in community projects, or sparking conversations about mental health.

As she continues her journey in Miss Township South Africa, Lerato is asking for the public’s assistance in bringing the title home. To vote for Lerato, you can contact her directly at 071 615 6826.

“When you embrace who you truly are, you inspire others to do the same,” she said.
