The Witbank SAPS executive team has taken the first steps to boost the fight against crime, with police and community structures agreeing to work closer together in operations and planning.

According to the station communications officer, Warrant Officer David Ratau, the team sat for a productive meeting on August 4 where they discussed operational planning.

Acting Station Commander Colonel Nonhlanhla Kgosana emphasised the importance of a good working relationship, while the newly elected chairperson of the Community Policing Forum (CPF), Kathryn Nell, also stressed the need for unity.

Nell mentioned that the CPF needs to make sure that eMalahleni is a crime-free zone.

Ratau said several projects and planned operations will be rolled out by CPF executive committee members, aligning directly with SAPS operations to avoid duplication and improve impact on the ground.
