Vosman SAPS launches investigations following double recoveries of stolen vehicles

With the two cars located, the suspects in both cases remain at large.

Vosman police have recovered two vehicles in separate incidents over the past weekend.

The recoveries were made on May 9.

The first vehicle, an Isuzu bakkie, was recovered following a swift police response to a gunpoint carjacking in Kwa-Guqa Extension 18.

The second vehicle, which had been reported stolen in Kwa-Guqa Extension 10, was found later that night.

The Isuzu bakkie was hijacked in Extension 18 at approximately 18:30, and an alert was immediately broadcast to all patrolling teams. Shortly after, the vehicle was spotted near a local hangout in Extension 10.

When police attempted to intercept the vehicle, the suspects sped off, triggering a high-speed chase.

Realising they were outnumbered, the suspects abandoned the moving vehicle and fled into the nearby bushes, where the bakkie was recovered.

In the second incident, a Volkswagen Polo Vivo 1.4 was stolen in Extension 10 later that evening, around 22:00.

Working in close coordination with a vehicle tracking company, the Vosman SAPS followed up on information that led them along the Kromdraai gravel roads.

Their search concluded successfully when they discovered the stolen vehicle hidden in the bushes along Verena Road.
