Run/Walk for Life never stops what they are doing best
Remember the Virtual ‘Pink’ Race on Saturday, October 31 hosted by RWFL for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
It was through many months of planning and much anticipation that the inaugural race walk clinic was presented by the Run Walk for Life (RWFL) Training Group.
The event took place on Sunday, October 18 at Highveld Mall.
Diana Jansen, manager of both the Witbank and Middelburg RWFL branches, introduced Carl Meyer, IAAF Level 4 Race Walking coach.
He coaches at NWU, CGA and AGN clubs and there are several national champions within his groups.
Meyer explained and demonstrated race walking technique and put the attendees through specific warm-up exercises.
Test walks were also done with intervals to discuss the problem areas.
He will visit the club once a month.
“We are all positive that good will come out of this initiative, especially in our province where we lag behind the others,” said Wessel Redelinghuys, Race Walk Coordinator, Run Walk for Life Training Group.
“The attendance will undoubtedly grow based upon the enthusiasm we experienced this morning,” Redelinghuys said.
All age groups are welcome at the clinics.
The participation fee is R50 per person, per session.
The fee is payable on the day.
Bookings can be made via wessel@infinitive.co.za or call him for more information: 083 231 9753.
The club also had their re-launch recently after these past rough months during Covid-19.
They already have a few new members attending the time trials.
