Lusinda Underhay, Pluto and Scooby her two female basset hounds have been training under Michelle Meyer for the last two years and what started as a lesson in obedience training to get her two dogs out of their comfort zone has become much more for her and the two beautiful dogs.

She entered an obedience training championship in May where Scooby won first place and Pluto achieved a third place. This is a special achievement for her as it is her first championship they have competed in since she started training with her dogs about year ago. They are gearing up for another championship in August that will take place at Goldfields kennel club.

These competitions involve how well the dog can obey certain commands such as sitting as well as walking on a leash for example. This is a different type of discipline than show dogs or obstacle courses.

The story that led her to adopt these two beautiful animals is heart warming. She was interested in getting a dog from a breeder raising basset hounds. However when she called she was offered to take the two puppies at only two weeks old since the mother could not care for them and the breeder literally had her hands full caring for a litter of newborn puppies.

Lusinda gladly accepted and cared for these two dogs their entire lives. Because of the separation at such a young age she said that Pluto and Scooby were not good around people and other dogs so she decided to take them for a few obedience classes to get them out of their comfort zone a bit.
