Watch: Tourists shot at by suspected poachers at KZN dam
Tourists enjoying one of SA’s biggest dams, located on the Elephant Coast, were left traumatised after being fired at.
A case of attempted murder is being investigated in KZN after tourists were shot at, allegedly by poachers, this morning.
The tourists were on a houseboat on the eastern shores of Jozini Dam when a group of people, allegedly hunting elephants, opened fire. The tourists were forced to dive for cover and lie flat as bullets flew.
No one was wounded, but the tourists were extremely shaken. The shooting is thought to be linked to the ongoing killing of elephants in the area, which locals say should be made available for cattle grazing.
No arrests have been made yet and investigations continue.
