Dice4DICE raises the stakes

It was the biggest gathering of exclusive cars Zululand has ever seen

History was made over the weekend with the second annual Dice4DICE super car extravaganza.

It was the biggest gathering of exclusive cars Zululand has ever seen.

Not even heavy rains could put a damper on the event, which promises to become one of the biggest dates on the local calendar.

Kicking off at the Umfolozi Casino Resort in Empangeni on Saturday morning, the parking lot quickly filled with Nissan GT-Rs, M-Series BMWs, Porches, Ferraris, a McLaren and a Lamborghini Gallardo.

The cars together were a sight to behold and as they left the casino in convoy, traffic was literally brought to a standstill as people could not believe what they were seeing.

Under helpful guidance of the uMhlathuze Traffic Department, the group made their way through the Empangeni Rail and took to the N2.

People travelling south were met by a blue light brigade with a difference as they were overtaken by one sleek sports car after the other.

The convoy made a brief stopover in Mtunzini before heading back to Naval Island for an exhibition.

In The Bay they were greeted by large numbers of people braving the bad weather to view their favourite super cars. The guys from the Durban Porsche Club also arrived to boost the numbers of sports cars even further, much to the delight of the crowd. Saturday evening saw drivers taking part in a race of a different kind. They all bid against each other at an auction, with all proceeds going to the Zululand Observer’s charity arm DICE (Do I Care Enough?). Over R150 000, more than double last year’s amount, was raised in a matter of minutes, proving that super car owners don’t just have large capacity engines in their sports cars, but also extra-large compassionate hearts.
