ZIKULISE Skills Training Centre hosted 40 past trainees to a card-making workshop in Empangeni last week.
Tarryn Lawrence demonstrated to the enthusiastic students how to make their own Valentine’s Day, birthday and special occasion cards, encouraging them to produce them at their homes and sell as an income generator.
They were all thrilled at the results they produced.
Tarryn said, ‘The creativity of the group was amazing! They will also be able to pass on the knowledge they obtained to others.’
Trainee, Rejoice Majola said, ‘I’ve learnt a lot and I will definitely be able to make money from selling my cards.
‘Cards are so expensive now and to be able to make your own also makes the cards personal and cheaper.’
Louisa Jury, head of training commented that the past trainees are invited back to Zikulise every month to participate in a variety of workshops.
‘The aim of these workshops is to equip the participants with new money-making skills.
‘By obtaining these skills new opportunities become available to them.’
