Call to protect facilities
Mayor urges communities to work together, to ensure that government facilities are safe.
‘LOOK after the municipal resources’ was the message from KwaDukuza mayor Ricardo Mthembu at a sod turning ceremony launching the construction of four multi-purpose sports courts in Madundube, Sakhamkhanya, Ntshawini and Thembeni areas.
He has urged communities to work together, to ensure that government facilities are safe.
Speaking at the event held, Mthembu said, ‘The community has to exercise its collective responsibility to protect municipal facilities as he continues to deliver according to his promises.
‘Ward committees must take responsibility to ensure that public facilities are safe at all times.
‘This includes the multi-million rand Madundube community hall that is currently under construction.
‘We are making reasonable progress, we must work together to ensure that these developments are protected. It is now up to the strength of the ward committees to ensure that they work with the community to protect government resources,’ he said.
The multi-purpose sporting facilities or ‘Combo Courts’ provide for volleyball, tennis, netball and basketball.
