Join the church fundraiser

Lutheran Church builds big, but needs support.

ERECTING a new church building with limited funds is a daunting task, but the public can play a part in making this possible.

The Lutheran Church in Richards Bay was established in 1996 and in 2012 began to construct their ambitious 500-seater place of worship.

Having started off in a garage in Aquadene, and then in a school classroom in Brackenham, the growing, 180 member strong congregation is ‘building for the future.

‘On 22 June we are hosting a ‘Journey to Build a Legacy’ fundraiser, and we invite all Christians to support us in worship, powerpoint presentation and other activities which will include auctioning a wonderful cake, American style,’ says Pastor Stephan Gensicke.

‘We would love to make our church at the corner of Pelican Parade and Tinktinkie Tuiste a centre for the community, a place to host seminars etc.

‘Lutherans are an old mainline church which has been in South Africa more than 150 years.’

Stephan is a German-South African, who was born in Port Shepstone and grew up in Germany.

He came back to South Africa 2004 to learn Zulu and since then has served the Lutheran Church ELCSA.

He can be contacted on 072 5423000.
