Petrol price relief

A drop in the petrol price gives motorist a break.

CASH-STRAPPED Zululanders will get a reprieve at the petrol pumps after the Department of Energy announced a drop in petrol and diesel prices.

This will come into effect on Wednesday.

Petrol is coming down by 67 cents a litre, while diesel will drop by between 25.38 and 24.38 cents a litre.

Illuminating paraffin will fall by 25 cents a litre and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by 108 cents a kilogram.

The department has also decreased the slate levy from 4.38 cents a litre to zero, in line with the self-adjusting slate mechanism.

The department said the reasons for the fuel price decreases are mainly due to the drop in the price of crude oil and the stability of the rand against the US dollar.
