Principal accused of witchcraft

Ward Councillor Sipho Mthiyane confirmed the allegations, saying the Principal ruled ‘his’ school with an iron fist.

FOLLOWING a pupil protest and Port Durnford community pressure, the eSikhaleni Senkosi High School Principal has been temporarily ‘removed’ to allow for investigations to be completed.

The latest set of events is a result of the alleged shenanigans which have been taking place at the school, where the school principal is accused of ‘witchcraft’.

A local community member said, ‘The school principal had been found within the school premises at night with a bucket of ‘muti’, which he used to spray around the school yard.’

According to the community member, the Principal has also been accused of sexual harassment by female teachers, who alleged he had been ‘touching’ them inappropriately.

He is also accused of insulting both teachers and pupils, saying the school is ‘his’ turf, therefore no one can tell him what to do.

It is alleged some of the teachers did not return to the school this year, and last year one of them died ‘mysteriously’.

Local Ward 18 Councillor Sipho Mthiyane confirmed the allegations, saying the Principal ruled ‘his’ school with an iron fist.

Mthiyane said at one point the Principal told him he had been to an inyanga, to find ‘muti’ which would make him strong, since the teachers at his school were bewitching him.

Mthiyane told the Zululand Observer that eSikhaleni Senkosi pupils had staged a protest, demanding the principal be removed.

A meeting was then held between the parents, the school governing body, Mtunzini Acting Circuit Manager Mr Mthembu, and the school Principal, in which a decision was taken to temporary ‘remove’ the principal until a solution is found.

The old school governing body was also disbanded and a new one elected.
