THE Richards Bay Sea Rescue team jumped in to assist two paddlers losing the fight against a strong wind in the harbour channel on Saturday.
NSRI Richards Bay Station Commander Cornel du Toit said the duty crew launched its craft ‘Spirit of Round Table’ after they received reports from the Transnet National Ports Authority just after 5pm.
‘The two men, aged 18 and 21, had paddled across the channel and appeared unable to paddle back against the wind.
‘On arrival at the scene, our NSRI sea rescue craft took them under tow and towed them safely back across the shipping channel to shore.
‘Once ashore, they required no further assistance.’
