Car written off after hitting rock on N2

Zululand Business Against Crime Chairperson warns motorists of foul play on roads

A MOTORIST travelling on the N2 between the Mtunzini Toll Plaza and the eSikhaleni off-ramp suffered considerable damage to his vehicle on Sunday night at about 1am when he hit a large rock placed in the road.

Although the motorist was not injured, the vehicle’s engine and gearbox were damaged beyond repair and had it to be written off.

Despite the extensive damage the driver still managed to make it back to Empangeni.

A group of criminals in the area place large objects in the road to disable vehicles and rob the occupants. Similar incidents have been reported in the past.

‘We have previously warned about incidents like these, but not everyone takes heed or they forget about the threat,’ said Dave Whittaker, Chairperson of Business Against Crime Zululand.
