GALLERY: Beer truck crash causes N2 mayhem

A beer truck crashed on the N2 in the early hours of Sunday morning, inviting looters to stock up for an early Christmas

THE N2 highway between Mtunzini and the Empangeni turn-off was closed for nearly four hours early this morning after a truck carrying beer overturned, spilling crates of beer all over the road.

It is believed the truck collided with a stationary taxi parked by the side of the road at around 2am, causing the driver to lose control just before the North Coast Engen Garage.

City of uMhlathuze fire department officials were hard tasked to extricate the trapped driver, who fortunately sustained no serious injuries.

He was treated by KZN EMS paramedics, who took him to hospital for further evaluation.

Bystanders quickly made off with as much beer as they could carry.

Motorists passing the vicinity at around 9am said the truck still had not been fully recovered.
