Body of missing University of Zululand student found in shack

This case follows that of missing UniZul student Mbali Gumede

IN a shocking turn of events, police earlier today (Thursday) confirmed the body of a missing University of Zululand (UniZul) student had been found with multiple stab wounds.

Lethukuthula Ngobese, who was from Newcastle and in the third year of her Law degree, was last seen in eSikhaleni on Sunday.

Provincial police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane confirmed police are searching for the tenant of the shack in which Ngobese’s body was found.

‘On [the police officers’] arrival they noticed [the body] was of a 21-year-old woman who was suspected to be the one who was reported missing this week,’ said Zwane.

‘She sustained stab wounds on her body and was already dead.

‘A case of murder has been opened by eSikhawini police for further investigation.’

Zwane said that no arrests have yet been made.

This case follows that of UniZul student Mbali Gumede who was reported missing in June.

The last anyone heard of her, she was on her way to the university to collect her graduation documents.
