No end to north coast fishing feast

LOCAL anglers took full advantage of the non-stop north coast fishing feast over the past week, returning home with full hatches.

Dorado, tuna and sailfish were among the many species landed up north, with Cape Vidal being the spot where many anglers landed personal best catches of a variety of species.

Once again, trolling lures to locate the fish and then switching to live bait got anglers into the mix.

The summer fish have been hungry for fresh mozzies or mackerel.

The rock and surf fraternity had their hands full with inedibles last week.

Huge sandies and honeycombs were the main species coming out.

The fresher the bait the quicker the bite, with this being proven time and again.

When targeting these species, weather becomes important, as the most hectic action happens after a few days of a northeast wind and a flat sea.

Head down to the longer beaches and points to cast into deep water.

Look for the darker coloured water as this is generally the deeper areas.
