Second wave of Covid-19 forces Dusi Canoe Marathon postponement
Dusi postponed until March
THE Dusi Canoe Marathon has been postponed to 18-20 March following the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in KZN and around the country.
As the second wave of the pandemic causes concern, the organisers and Canoeing South Africa officials agreed on the postponement.

A quick decision needed to be made to reassure paddlers that the event would still take place this year following the emergency meeting of the National Command Council held on Wednesday.
Organisers were forced to postpone the event with the current regulations in place and the safety of paddlers was the main concern.
President of Canoeing South Africa, Kim Pople, believes the postponement is the best option.
She said from a medical point of view, big races such as the Dusi always come with serious injuries requiring hospital treatment.
‘Currently, there are almost no hospital beds available in KZN and that must be considered. To take away medical officials to look after us on a river in current circumstances is not going to happen.’
