International Coastal Clean-up Day is a worldwide environmental initiative, held annually on the third Saturday of September.
It has been observed since 1986 and remains the largest volunteer environmental data-gathering effort and clean-up event of coastal and underwater areas to date.
Beach clean-ups are an extremely important event to help mitigate the problems caused by ocean debris and dangers inflicted on marine life as a result of plastic pollution.
These events also promote positive disposal or reusing items where possible, and are helping to lead the way in changing people’s perceptions and understanding of the world around them.
