Sponsor an Amangwe Village creche child and change a life
Amangwe Village provides essential services to the KwaSokhulu area and surrounds
Amangwe Village has relaunched its ‘sponsor a child’ programme, in an effort to generate much-needed funds for the NPO’s impactful work – or risk closing its doors.
Based in KwaMbonambi, Amangwe Village provides essential services to the KwaSokhulu area and surrounds.
This includes an on-site creche that cares for and educates more than 30 children.
Apart from receiving a high standard of age-appropriate education, each child receives two meals a day and healthy snacks.
Often these are the only nutritional meals these children will receive, contributing to their physical and mental health.
While the Department of Social Development partially subsidises each child, the amount doesn’t come close to meeting the organisation’s daily running costs.
Amangwe Village relies primarily on donations and sponsorship. However, this came to a halt with the arrival of Covid-19.
To avoid closure, the committee is exploring innovative ways to raise funds, one of which is the ‘sponsor a child’ programme.
How can you help?
People can sign up to the ‘sponsor a child’ programme and sponsor one creche child for just R300 a month.
This amount will ensure the child is receiving a solid educational foundation through play and learning, is well cared for and enjoying healthy nourishment.
The organisation’s manager, Zanele Mabaso, will also keep the sponsor updated on the child’s progress through a quarterly report.
Once the child has graduated onto the next grade or into primary school, the sponsor will have the choice of sponsoring another child for another year.
For more information on Amangwe Village’s ‘sponsor a child’ programme, contact Mabaso on 084 4563410 or 083 4799803.
‘Amangwe Village is an NPO firmly entrenched in the KwaSokhulu community, without which this rural community would not have the health and education programmes we have provided for so many,’ said Mabaso.
‘This economic climate is incredibly difficult and Amangwe now finds itself having to consider the worse possible option – closure.
‘We plead with businesses and individuals to assist us in any small way that you can, be it ongoing sponsorship such as the sponsor a child programme, or onec-off donations.
‘We will be eternally grateful for any donations we receive.’
