Online survey to tackle NPO anxiety

NPOwer launches NGO Anxiety Survey to relieve anxiety among staff and volunteers of NPOs, NGOs and other community organisations across all sectors

NPOWER, a dedicated mental health support service, is launching an NPO Anxiety Survey to better formulate support structures for this sector during National Mental Health Awareness Month.

With the ongoing pandemic creating more need for NPOs while simultaneously impacting funding, workers are feeling much more overwhelmed.

The need for relief services and medical supplies has spiked in the wake of July’s civil unrest, and the third Covid wave further compounding the need.

While many corporates have employee assistance programmes in place, and relief funding has been provided for vulnerable groups, the well-being of NPOs on the frontline has largely been forgotten.

NPOs have been central to the Covid-19 response, and leaders, staff and volunteers are feeling the stress.

NPOwer, which launched in October 2020, has already received more than 6 300 calls.

Anyone working or volunteering at an NGO, NPO, NPC or any other community organisation is encouraged to complete the five-minute survey on the NPOwer website.

Organisations are also encouraged to share this survey with their staff, leaders and volunteers before the deadline on 15 October.

To reach the survey, visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3T6PD6P or go to NPOwer SA at https://www.npowersa.org/

The 24-hour toll-free NPOwer helpline offers counselling in all 11 official languages on 0800 515 515. Messages can also be sent to a dedicated SMS line on 43010 or to info@npowersa.org
