THOUSANDS of residents in the King Cetshwayo district, who have been approved for home visits, are set to cast their votes this weekend.
King Cetshwayo IEC regional chairperson, Stella Dlamini, announced last week that a total of 11 244 applications were received for home visits and 2 951 for special votes at stations.

‘Most of our stations will be open for special voting on 30 and 31 October to allow for those who applied to cast their votes,’ said Dlamini, speaking at the signing of the electoral code of conduct by political parties and independent candidates ahead of the Local Government Elections on 1 November.
‘We are also going to ensure that we meet the obligation of visiting voters at their homes, and have allocated more staff for this process so that everyone can vote,’ she said.
This process allows a registered voter, who can’t vote at their voting station on election day, to apply to vote on a pre-determined day before the day.
On the day of special votes, approved voters must present a green bar-coded identity book, a smart identity card or a valid temporary identity certificate at voting stations between 8am and 5pm.
