WATCH: Motorists alerted to remote jamming
Always be vigilant, and take note of any unusual behaviour

POLICE and the Empangeni CPF urge motorists to be vigilant and on the lookout for any suspicious activities, especially when in parking lots.
This alert comes after a few incidents of vehicle theft reported in the Empangeni area.
King Cetshwayo Cluster police spokesperson Captain Siyanda Shangase said motorists must double-check that their vehicles are properly locked before leaving them in a parking lot.
‘Some criminals still use remote jamming devices to interfere with vehicle locking systems, so it is imperative to physically check whether your vehicle’s doors have indeed been locked,’ he said.
Empangeni CPF chairperson Zonita Grobbelaar echoed these sentiments and added that motorists must also ensure their vehicle’s windows are fully closed before leaving their car unattended.
‘Motorists must further ensure they do not leave valuable belongings inside the car, which are visible from the outside, because this attracts the attention of criminals.
‘Always be vigilant, and take note of any unusual behaviour, which must be reported to management and security,’ she said.
