Why are advent calendars so popular?

These calendars are a popular tradition in many families

ADVENT calendars are believed to be a long-standing tradition in many families, leading up to the excitement of the Christmas holiday and Christmas Day itself.

In today’s times, advent calendars include paper doors that open to reveal an image, a Bible verse, a piece of chocolate or these days, even a small bottle of liqueur. It is said the tradition of advent calendars dates back all the way to the mid-19th century.

Advent calendars begin on 1 December and mark the 24 days before Christmas – the period of four Sundays and weeks before Christmas.

Advent’s meaning is ‘coming’, which is also translated as the coming of Jesus into the world.

Christians may use the four Sundays and weeks of Advent, preparing for and remembering the real meaning of Christmas.

Many families are part of various religions and they find pleasure in seeing what they consider to be what they live by and believe in, every day, in a form of a calendar.

Many calendars may feature the latest toys, beauty products and so much more.
