Prince Ishwar Ramlutchman Mabheka Zulu has received leadership appointments from both the Zulu Royal Household and the Government of KwaZulu-Natal

In recognition of his longstanding commitment to nation-building, peace advocacy and community development, Prince Ishwar Ramlutchman Mabheka Zulu has received two leadership appointments from both the Zulu Royal Household and the Government of KwaZulu-Natal.

KZN Premier Thami Ntuli appointed Ramlutchman to the provincial Social Cohesion and Moral Regeneration Council, tasked with strengthening unity, ethical leadership and cultural understanding.

King Misuzulu kaZwelithini also named Ramlutchman Royal Ambassador for Social Cohesion and Economic Development in the Zulu Kingdom during the International Day of Yoga event at the Durban Amphitheatre.

Adopted by the late King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, Ramlutchman has become a symbol of harmony between Zulu, Indian and broader South African communities. Through initiatives such as the internationally recognised Sivananda Peace Pillars, Ramlutchman has promoted youth development, interfaith dialogue, cultural exchange and economic empowerment.

“Prince Ishwar Ramlutchman Mabheka Zulu occupies a unique place in our history as the first person of Indian descent adopted into the Zulu Royal Family, in accordance with our customs and traditions. Ramlutchman’s journey reflects the spirit of unity and shared values that have long characterised the relationship between the Zulu nation and the people of India,” King Misuzulu said.

Ramlutchman’s leadership was further recognised at the 2026 KwaZulu-Natal Premier’s Excellence Awards, where he received the Premier’s Excellence Award for Best Social Cohesion and Moral Regeneration Programme. The award highlighted the Sivananda World Peace Foundation’s work in promoting ubuntu, interfaith dialogue and youth development across the province.

Premier Ntuli praised Ramlutchman as “a leader who turns the values of social cohesion into action on the ground”.

Accepting the award, Ramlutchman said, “We dedicate this honour to my Divine Master Sri Swami Sivananda, Unyazi LweZulu Shembe, His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi and the people of KZN.

“I am looking forward to deepening the work of oneness that the late His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini began through cultural activities and heritage, reviving sports and dialogues in communities.

Social cohesion is daily work of building trust, restoring values and ensuring no one is left behind. Together we must build bridges between communities, advance moral regeneration, and uphold the values of peace, respect and dignity. May peace prevail in the Zulu Kingdom, South Africa and throughout the world.
