The shopping centre was one of two in eSikhaleni that was vandalised by rioters in July 2021.
“It’s like a dream.
“To be able to walk to do our shopping is something amazing.
“We are grateful that our centre is back,” said 62-year-old Thandekile Ngema.
While residents will be affected with no access to ATMs after hours, many are thrilled the malls will be protected to prevent criminal activities.
Work is still ongoing to rebuild eSikhaleni Mall and plans are in place to beef up security to protect both structures from being vandalised.
