Teen support NPO searching for business mentors

One of the NPO's most successful programmes is Meet Your Mentor

For the last 13 years, Crossroads Teen Centre has been providing vital support for Zululand youngsters through its educational, social, and recreational programmes.

One of the NPO’s most successful programmes is Meet Your Mentor, where youngsters get to shadow mentors and learn more about potential careers.

To continue this valuable work-based programme, Crossroads Teen Centre is looking for private and public entities that can assist in hosting high school pupils.

Commenting on the year so far, Crossroads acting manager Hope Mtshali said, “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, and working together is success. As we reflect on term one of Crossroads Teen Centre, this quote is showing itself to be true.”

In January, the centre was impacted by floods that caused a toilet pipe to burst.

“Many of our initial plans had to be changed and we could not hit the ground running. Many of our events and projects were pushed back,” said Mtshali.

“However, March was a time of truly coming together. We started with an open day for the learners to see and experience what the centre is about and be part of the Crossroads community.”

Later that month, the Crossroads Teen Centre Steering Committee members were elected to develop young leaders who will ‘walk by example’.

Mtshali is now calling on any organisations that can assist in shadowing for its Meet Your Mentor programme to expose pupils to different careers.

Anyone interested in hosting learners can contact Hope Mtshali on 068 2615625.
