WATCH: Cash-in-transit heist closes N2

Traffic is being diverted off the N2 onto the R102 at both the Gingindlovu and Mandeni off-ramps after CIT heist

TWO security guards of a cash-carrying vehicle have been injured in a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist on the N2.

The incident occurred earlier this evening (Tuesday), causing the N2 to be closed in the vicinity of bridge 10 between Gingindlovu and Mandeni.

According to IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Samantha Meyrick, the two crew members aboard the cash vehicle sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.

The guards are under the care of IPSS Advanced Medical Life Support.

Traffic is being diverted off the N2 onto the R102 at both the Gingindlovu and Mandeni off-ramps while the highway is closed.

The N2 will remain closed as investigations get under way and for clearing of the debris.
