Truck gets stuck in pothole-riddled Richards Bay road

A water tanker-type truck fell victim to the notorious potholes along Harbour Arterial to the Port of Richards Bay on Monday

THE notorious pothole-riddled road between the Alton robots and the east gate of the Port of Richards Bay claimed another victim on Monday.

The holes on Harbour Arterial have been the subject of complaints over a long period, with the important thoroughfare simply unable to withstand the weight of thousands of heavy-laden coal tipper trucks.

In this case, a smaller truck found its body firmly wedged in a giant pothole and, according to truck drivers who spoke to the Zululand Observer, it had been there for at least four hours, unable to move.

Fortunately, the road was wide enough to allow other vehicles to pass.

“Maybe this is what it takes to get something done,” said one observer.
