Eight dead in police shoot-out on John Ross highway in Richards Bay

UPDATE: Confirmation has been received that eight suspects were shot and killed during a gun battle with police along the John Ross highway in Richards Bay last night (Thursday).

ARBORETUM residents thought their suburb was coming under siege late last night (Thursday) when a volley of gunshots rang out amid reports of a shoot-out on the John Ross.

“The shooting started at about 11pm and lasted for about a minute before all went quiet,” said one resident.

It was later reported that the incident took place between the Medway and Arboretum (canal robots) intersections.

“We waited for sirens and reports of what took place, but there was nothing, just an eerie silence.”

While confirmation is awaited, reports indicate a shoot-out between police and suspects took place.

This is a developing story and we will keep readers updated as new information comes to light.
