Nkandla men join fight against GBV

Men took their 'No to GBV' message to the streets of Nkandla

Men became the change they wanted to see in the world when they joined the fight against gender-based violence (GBV) in eNkandla last week.

To commemorate the annual 16 Days of Activism against GBV (25 November to 10 December), Nkandla Municipality officials and workers, mostly men, held demonstrations to create awareness.

Hosted at the local sports field, the two-hour campaign condemned the abuse of women and children, while calling on men to play their part in the ongoing fight.

In support of the campaign, male council workers wore colourful skirts and demonstrated in pink and white clothing.

They also took to the streets, chanting and marching from KwaNdima Car Wash before crossing Kwa-V township and returning.

Nkandla Mayor Mbhekiseni Biyela described the campaign as one of the municipal programmes planned to run annually.
