Petrol price looks to rise come New Year
Adjusted fuel prices will take effect on Wednesday, 1 January
WHILE diesel and illuminating paraffin may decrease in the new year, petrol prices look set to increase.
This is according to the Automobile Association (AA), commenting on unaudited mid-month data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF).
The AA says, based on the data, ULP95 looks set to increase by 3 cents per litre, while ULP 93 could rise by 11 cents per litre.

Diesel is expected to drop by around 3 cents per litre, while illuminating paraffin could come down by 14 cents per litre.
According to the association, these expected reductions are attributed to lower international product prices observed from the end of the previous month.
This is despite the rand not having performed well against the US dollar for most of the review period.
“Considering that many people will be traveling by vehicle in December and January, we advise motorists to carefully plan their budgets now to ensure they have adequate funds to cover their expenses, which may include toll fees on certain routes,” said the AA, adding that this mid-month outlook could well change come the month-end adjustment date.
The officially adjusted fuel prices will take effect on Wednesday, 1 January, and the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) will announce the official adjustments.
