Two University of Zululand students won a prestigious national competition with their innovative wine project

TWO University of Zululand (Unizulu) students are the cream of the national crop after scooping top place in a prestigious inter-varsity competition.

Both microbiology and biochemistry students and founders of AL Winery, Anga Mzozo and Lehlogonolo Mogashoa took the top spot in the 6th Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE) finals held in Johannesburg recently.

Their innovative project saw them score highest in the Business Social Impact category with their concept of transforming overripe bananas into non-alcoholic wine.

The students’ ideas resonated with the judges and underscored their business’ mission to combat food waste.
“We feel proud knowing our project reduces waste, supports local vendors, and inspires change,” said Mzozo.
The two entrepreneurs plan to expand their business footprint nationwide, building a sustainable community one bottle at a time.
