Free picnic in Mtubatuba to showcase local talent

Free festive get-together to celebrate community and showcase local talent

YEARS of hard work and hustle have hewn Susani Nkosi into an adept businessman motivated by the vision of creating an opportunity for others.

This is why Nkosi has organised a picnic to be held at Machibini sports field in Mtubatuba at which local artists will have the opportunity to showcase their talent.

Nkosi stressed that the event is not for profit, with the performing artists not set to be paid, and free entry for guests.

“My dream is that this picnic becomes a success and is hosted every year for years to come,” said Nkosi, adding that the performance line-up will include people who have significantly made a name for themselves.

He said the picnic, while catering for the rural community of Machibini, will not only feature local artists but also some from other areas.

It is Nkosi’s hope that in the future, music executives would attend the event to scout for new talent.
Nkosi was born and bred in Nkolokotho, Mtubatuba, and has worked as an assistant to his car mechanic, as a counsellor at Love Life, and at a retail store, all of which has contributed to shape the person he is today.

He has also pursued various fields of study, with the most key being his 2019 qualification in film and television, which brought out his creative side, and one he says he always wished to explore.
“I have organised shows before, but after my studies I started working for myself and have been able to explore my creative side. This picnic was organised so other creative artists who have not been discovered, especially young people, can have a platform to showcase their crafts,” said Nkosi, who explained that the performances will be from singers, DJs and poets, among others.

Nkosi said he envisions the picnic growing and becoming a workshop for upcoming artists to gain traction in the entertainment industry.

The picnic will be held on 28 December from 9am to 6pm.
