Mission accomplished for seafarers at Port of Richards Bay

Seafarers Centre enjoyed a busy month of May, with 487 visits from seafarers

The Richards Bay Mission to Seafarers’ (MtS) monthly report for May shows a lower than usual activity list as Chaplain Mark Classen and his Ship Visitor wife, Eva were overseas for a time and then down with flu.

Nevertheless, their positive impact was felt through 33 ship visits and one hospital visit during the period.

A total of 326 resources were distributed on vessels, including 19 Bibles, 142 Christian materials, and 175 other items, while two justice and welfare issues were dealt with.

The digital chaplaincy received 21 calls or messages seeking help during the month, while two seamen seeking financial assistance were referred.

The Seafarers Centre enjoyed a busy month of May, with 487 visits from seafarers and 790 being transported, along with 429 online orders processed.
