Richards Bay Bay shop joins Dice winter drive

Local businessman supports Dice (Do I Care Enough?) Winter Warmth campaign

A local businessman has joined forces with the Zululand Observer’s charity organisation Dice (Do I Care Enough?) to support its Winter Warmth campaign.

The partnership began when Dice supporter June Ferreira noticed Inkwenkwezi Tobacco Shop owner Dennis Zwane often reading in his shop.

A fellow book lover, Ferreira introduced herself and offered him some of her favourite titles to enjoy.

That simple exchange sparked both a friendship and a shared commitment to community support.

Motivated by their conversation, Zwane set up a book exchange corner in his shop. Customers are invited to bring in a book to swap, or, if they don’t have one to exchange, they can make a voluntary donation into a charity jar on the counter.

All donations collected have since been handed over to Dice in support of its Winter Warmth campaign, which provides beanies, blankets and warm meals to those in need.

“Dice would like to encourage shoppers who have extra books to donate, or are looking for a book to read, to pop into the shop, meet Dennis and support the book exchange programme,” said Dice operations manager Karen Dalton.
