Major boost to unlock investment opportunities in uMkhanyakude District

While uMkhanyakude is the second largest district in KZN, it remains one of South Africa’s poorest

In an effort to centralise services and better facilitate the ease of doing business with government, the uMkhanyakude District InvestSA One Stop Shop and Digital Centre was launched at Mkuze Airport recently.

Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) MEC Musa Zondi said the strategic location of the initiative holds immense potential to unlock new opportunities for investment and trade.

Despite being the second-largest district in the province, uMkhanyakude remains one of the poorest in the country.

“As we work tirelessly to reduce poverty, drive inclusive growth and create jobs, we will continue to reach every corner of the province to deliver services that stimulate economic development,” said Zondi.

The InvestSA One Stop Shop is managed by Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN) in collaboration with the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition.

The Digital Centre falls under the oversight of the Moses Kotane Research Institute.

Since the inception of one stop shop centres in 2017, TIKZN – supported by EDTEA – has launched offices in the uMgungundlovu, Harry Gwala, iLembe and Ugu districts.
