WATCH: Party takes Department of Transport to task over hazardous R102 road

DA delegation inspects dangerous R102 road between Empangeni and Felixton

DA members inspected the potholed R102 provincial road between Empangeni and Felixton today (28 July) and witnessed the dangers of the road first-hand.

uMhlathuze Deputy Mayor Christo Botha, who is chairperson of the DA King Cetshwayo Constituency, inspected the stretch from the Toyota Empangeni circle with Cllr Sihle Magubane.

“We are putting public pressure on the Department of Transport. The DA thought that we will take up this plight on behalf of the Felixton residents as well as parents driving their children to school on this stretch every day,” said Botha.

Botha will also be meeting with stakeholders, teachers and Felixton residents this evening and plans to launch a petition tomorrow.

“Once we have the required number of signatures, we will go to the KZN MEC for Transport’s office. “We will hand over to the department and if it fails, we will go to the national minister of transport. “We are not going to leave this fight in KZN,” said Botha.
