Richards Bay, Empangeni licensing offices experience technical issues

City of uMhlathuze lodges calls with KZN Transport Department as local licensing department experience technical glitches

For the third day, the City of uMhlathuze reported that its Richards Bay and Empangeni Licensing Office were offline, affecting hundreds of local logistics businesses and motorists.

In a statement issued this morning (Wednesday), the City of uMhlathuze noted that a call has been logged with the KZN Department of Transport.

When asked by the Zululand Observer for a suggested timeframe, Transport and Human Settlements spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya said the Richards Bay office is run by the municipality.

“The Empangeni office is up and running. We had technical problems that have been addressed, working with the Road Traffic Management Corporation. We apologise to members of the public,” he said.

Sibiya said Transport MEC Siboniso Duma has mandated officials to ensure technical issues are addressed promptly.
