Whistleblower report alleges 'improper hiring' at uMhlathuze Municipality

The City of uMhlathuze’s hiring practices are in the spotlight after a whistleblower report on alleged ‘improper hiring’ of four traffic officers.

A case of contravention of the Traffic Management Act was on Thursday registered at Richards Bay Police Station by PR Councillor Phiwe Mhlongo.

In the report, of which the ZO is in possession of a copy, six traffic officer positions were advertised in September 2024, clearly stipulating that applicants must have a diploma, proof of registration as a traffic officer, and must have at least two or three years’ experience…
