Ulundi Municipality launches road improvement program

Speaking at the launch, Ulundi Mayor Wilson Ntshangase emphasised the importance of collaboration with traditional leadership, communities and the municipality to ensure the success of the programme.

“We call upon our respected amaKhosi Asendlunkulu to cooperate with the municipality as this work unfolds. Soil will be required from within our communities to repair and upgrade the roads, and we trust this process will be handled with the unity and understanding that has always guided the people of Ulundi,” said Ntshangase.

The mayor further appealed to the community for patience during the roll-out as the municipality finalises its schedule to ensure each ward benefits from the road improvement programme.

“We know access roads are the lifeline of our communities, connecting people to schools, clinics, workplaces and economic opportunities. While the work may cause temporary inconvenience, the long-term benefits will transform the lives of our residents. We therefore ask our people to bear with us as we deliver on this crucial programme,” he said.

The municipality’s Technical Services Department has already begun preliminary assessments, and will be working ward by ward to rehabilitate roads, prioritising areas most affected by poor access.
