A man has been shot and killed near the vicinity of Maguzulu intersection on the R34 Nkwaleni road outside Empangeni this afternoon.

Reports indicate that the deceased was waiting at a stop-and-go when two gunmen opened fire on him. He was shot in the head and body.

Police are currently on scene and the victim has not been identified.

Traffic flow was severely affected during peak hour before the scene was subsequently cleared.
